Alternative Process Photography
This is an introductory photography course exploring alternative processes in photography. The focus of this class is alternative methods of creating a photograph. By the end of this 4-session class, students will feel comfortable with varying methods of producing photographs in non-traditional ways (from building your own camera to creating camera-less Cyanotype exposures to transferring images onto fabric and various substrates).
Through a series of hands-on demonstrations and exercises, students will learn the basics of alternative photographic processes, allowing you to produce one-of-a-kind works of art. We will cover the essential components of image making as it relates to fine art and photographic medium. This course is interdisciplinary and involves general education skill such as critical thinking, analytical writing, effective oral communication in class discussion and presentations about completed assignments. Students must bring 1 roll of 35mm color film. Other materials will be provided by the instructor.
